Imagination, Mycelium, and the Mysteries We Share
Corey S. Pressman joins a conversation with Merlin Sheldrake, Jeff VanderMeer, and Kaitlin Smith in the latest issue of Orion Magazine to explore the cultural surge of mushrooms—from science to story, from soil to symbol. Together, they trace how fungi are reshaping not only ecosystems but also our collective imagination.
A Rewilded Mind: An Evidence-Informed Guide to Reclaiming Your Wild Imagination
I am proud to announce the free release of my new workbook commissioned by Arizona State University’s Center for Science and the Imagination.
This workbook helps readers escape distractions and reconnect with their creative vitality. In a world dominated by noise, consumerism, and productivity culture, imagination often feels dulled or lost. A Rewilded Mind offers pathways back.
Grounded in neuroscience, psychology, and ecology, it combines reflective exercises, strategies, and prompts to rewild the mind. Author Corey S. Pressman, a visual artist, poet, and health educator, invites readers to break free from rigid thinking, embrace uncertainty, and cultivate a vibrant mindset.
Rewilding the mind restores creative autonomy, builds resilience, and deepens connection to self and the world. Perfect for artists, thinkers, and anyone seeking to reawaken their creative core, this workbook is an invitation to reclaim untamed potential and live more imaginatively.

The Alphabet of Everything: Art, Attention, and the Ineffable
This workshop at the historic Esalen Institute is an invitation into the space beyond language. Guided by The Alphabet of Everything, an approach to abstraction that requires deep attention, we will explore how every mark, shape, and gesture can be seen as part of a shared, primordial visual language, a living alphabet sourced from cracks in pavement, lichen on stone, diagrams, dreams, bones, shadows, and myth.
The Alphabet of Everything
In this two-day workshop, participants will be introduced to The Alphabet of Everything, a process-based approach to abstraction rooted in sensory encounters with the natural world. Designed to unlock creative pathways across disciplines, the Alphabet of Everything method supports the emergence of abstract works in any medium, including visual art, writing, movement, and sound
Waxed Powder Painting and the Alphabet of Everything
This workshop offers an immersive introduction to Waxed Powder Painting, a luminous medium combining powdered pigments and beeswax on paper. Participants move through a creative arc that begins with sharpening perception and developing abstraction and leads into full waxed-powder expression.
The Art of Being Well
This article explores the profound role of art as a central human act, drawing connections between J.R.R. Tolkien’s concept of humans as divine “sub-creators” and modern insights from neuroscience, philosophy, and evolutionary biology. It argues that creativity is both an ancient and vital aspect of our humanity, one that fosters emotional well-being, cognitive engagement, and connection to beauty and awe.
Caverna Clara
Solo Exhibition at Blackfish Gallery
The works in Caverna Clara bring a kaleidoscopic shadow play to light. These artworks use the same stuff of earthen caves—mineral pigments and clay—to realize the colored walls of our own spiritual openings. Perched above the threshold of awareness, the primal ground of our experience can be encountered directly. Here, in this bright cave, is the source of all you call real.
Return, Return
Solo Exhibition at Blackfish Gallery
The works in Return, Return offer a meditation on this round adventure. Along the way we realize near things in new places. This is how we know that what we really seek is—according to the law of return—return.
Waxed Powder Painting Workshop
The innovative waxed powder painting process involves the direct application of powdered pigment to paper or panel supports, before finishing the work with various wax media. This workshop will cover the mixing, handling, and application of powder pigment, the benefits of various paper types, stencil cutting, and the manufacture of and application strategies for wax media.

Beacon Creek Sculptures
Group show at The Verdancy Project
The boundaries between ourselves and the world are fictional. These are necessary fictions; they create the conditions for love and transcendence—the push and pull for reunion. Sometimes these boundaries become soft and porous.

Each dusk is defined by the slow loss of light, the circadian return of darkness. And in the gloaming is a world apart. The creatures of the twilight occupy a separate ecology in the rising dim: ocelots, foxes, and fireflies awaken to the sweet air of vespertine jasmine. Fruit bats finding cactus flowers, barn owls gleaning lost mice: they only know dusk.
